Abstract

The linguistic beauty of the Qur'an is one of its miraculous aspects that can be examined through the science of Balāghah, particularly the branch of Badī'. One of its prominent rhetorical devices is saj', the harmonious correspondence of sentence endings that creates aesthetic rhythm without diminishing the depth of meaning. Surah Ar-Rahman is widely recognized as one of the Qur'anic chapters that extensively employs this rhetorical pattern, especially through the repeated verse "Fabi ayyi ālā'i rabbikumā tukadhdhibān", which appears thirty-one times throughout the surah. This study aims to identify the forms of saj' found in Surah Ar-Rahman and to explain the relationship between phonetic harmony and semantic meaning from the perspective of Badī'. This research employs a qualitative method with a library research approach. The data were analyzed using the theoretical framework of Badī', supported by both classical and contemporary Qur'anic exegesis. The findings reveal that the pattern of saj' in Surah Ar-Rahman serves not only as an aesthetic linguistic feature but also reinforces the messages of tawhid, divine blessings, warnings against denial of God's favors, and psychological effects on readers and listeners. The harmonious integration of sound and meaning demonstrates a powerful rhetorical style that constitutes one of the linguistic miracles of the Qur'an.
