Semiotic analysis of the meaning in bersih Desa Kidangbang Wajak District Malang Regency

Abstract

Bersih desa of Kidangbang is a cultural performance that has been passed down from generation to generation which is unique and is held every year. Bersih Desa celebration is very unique and the community is very enthusiastic about welcoming this culture where not all regions in Indonesia celebrate it. The purpose of this research is to analyze the meaning of Bersih desa which is held every year. The theory used in this study is a semiotic theory by Ferdinand de Saussure with a qualitative descriptive approach. The results of this study indicate that the bersih desa celebration of Kidangbang, Wajak District, Malang Regency, has many meanings contained in it. The meaning is divided into 2, namely the signifier and the signified, which are object markers, such as food debt at the village hall. As for the signified, which is the meaning contained in the food obligation, such as to express gratitude to Allah SWT and as a form of asking for protection from negative things in everyday life. Therefore, in this study, let's learn about bersih desa traditions which are also a symbol of a relationship with ancestors that mixes local culture and Islamic values so that there appears to be a locality that is still strongly Islamic.
