Tradisi pernikahan dalam cerita rakyat "Putri Tandampalik" di masyarakat Luwu dan Bone Sulawesi Selatan
Abstract
Islam teaches men and women to marry in order to continue offspring and form a harmonious family. In a marriage there is a contract or agreement between the bride and groom to be allowed to have sexual relations to avoid adultery. Weddings are a sacred tradition in each region with a variety of festivities and different performances. Wedding traditions are an important aspect of people's lives in various cultures, including in the Luwu and Bone regions of South Sulawesi. The folklore "Putri Tandampalik" describes the uniqueness and richness of wedding traditions in this culture. In this story, the wedding is considered a sacred event involving the entire community. The folklore "Putri Tandampalik" tells of a princess who is expected to marry a chosen young man who is able to execute a number of tasks established by the king. At this early stage of the wedding tradition, the groom's family submits a petition to the bride-to-be's family. After approval is given, a proposal procession is held by visiting the bride-to-be's home and giving gifts and discussing issues that need to be resolved. The wedding tradition in the story "Putri Tandampalik" reflects the values of family and togetherness. Every member of the community is involved in the preparation and conduct of this marriage. The whole village worked together to provide food, decorations, and other assistance. This shows how important social bonds and solidarity are in maintaining the integrity and happiness of families who are holding marriages. This research uses quantitative methods by reading- recording and getting information directly from people's words. The outcomes of the study define that the tradition of marriage in the Luwu and Bone communities, South Sulawesi as a part of cultural and social life. Through a wedding procession that is full of meaning and involves the whole community, this tradition teaches the importance of togetherness, kinship, and preservation of cultural heritage.
