Pesantren emphasizes learning from yellow books, which are crucial for studying religious matters. These books are in Arabic and cover grammar rules (nahwu and shorof). Learning these rules is essential for understanding the content well. Nahwu deals with sentence structures (verbs, nouns, and conjunctions) and sentence endings (i'rob), while shorof focuses on word form changes. Both are complex, leading many students to struggle. This can lower motivation, resulting in decreased attention, effort, and class attendance. To address this, engaging learning methods are needed, especially for beginners in Arabic (Sulaikho et al., 2023). Researchers used qualitative methods like interviews and field observations at Pondok Pesantren Imam Ad-Damanhuri Malang. The study involved Al-Miftah teachers and Qiro’atul Kutub students. Teaching with the Al-Miftah method occurred twice daily, with breaks on Saturday night and Sunday morning. It started with tawasul (sending gifts of Surah Al-Fatihah) to Pondok Sidogiri's masayikh, mu'alim, and parents. The conclusion drawn from the research is that implementing the Al-Miftah Method at Pondok Pesantren Imam Ad-Damanhuri Malang involves several steps, including goal setting, material selection, method, media, target, time, tools, and evaluation. The process includes opening, main activities, and closing. Students apply this method by reading and giving Javanese meanings to the Fathul Qorib book, memorizing nadzom, tashrif, and songs related to nahwu materia.
