Abstract

Indonesia is a multicultural country that has various types of differences ranging from ethnicity, race, religion, culture and so on. The diversity that is created is able to become a valuable asset for the Indonesian people that distinguishes it from other countries. this is supported by the existence of a sense of nationalism from citizens, Nationalism appears along with the presence of Bhinneka Tunggal Ika as the motto of the State of Indonesia. However, Bhineka Tunggal Ika will not function as it should if it is not balanced with proper understanding and application by citizens. So that the writer understands the importance of implementing Unity in Diversity in everyday life which then initiated this writing. The research method was carried out by direct interviews with sources representing different age levels and social environment and working conditions. The interview emphasized more on three important discussion points, namely the understanding of the meaning of Bhineka Tunggal Ika for society, the application of Bhineka Tunggal Ika in work life and in the social environment, and the relevance of Bhineka Tunggal Ika for Indonesia in the present and in the future. The results obtained from the interviews conducted were that the informants were able to understand the meaning of Bhineka Tunggal Ika and understand the importance of Bhineka Tunggal Ika to be applied in everyday life, and the informants understood the relevance of Bhineka Tunggal Ika for Indonesia in the present and the future.
