Abstract

Wahabi is a religious movement founded by Muhammad Ibn-'Abd Al-Wahhab (1703-1791), and the term "Wahhabi" is derived from his name. The main principle taught by this movement is tawhid, which is a central doctrine in Islamic teachings. The belief in the oneness of God is expressed in three forms: first, Tawhid al-Rububiyah, which clarifies the unity of God and his role in His actions. God is the creator, protector, and regulator of this universe. Second, Tawhid al-Asma' wa al-Sifat (unity of name and nature), is related to the attributes of God. He has ownership over everything in the universe. Third, Tawhid al-Ilahiyah; clarifying that only He deserves to be worshiped as God. There is no other entity worthy of worship but Him, and Muhammad is His messenger. This implies that the entire act of worship is directed only at Him. Muhammad himself was not the object of worship, but he was respected and followed as His messenger.
