Kesulitan mahasiswa dalam menyelesaikan soal olimpiade matematika ditinjau dari koneksi matematis
Abstract
The current research aims to find out how difficult it is for students to solve mathematics Olympiad questions in terms of students’ mathematical connections. This research includes qualitative descriptive research. The sample for this research were 5th-semester students of tadris Mathematics at UIN Malang who had participated in a mathematics Olympiad with a total of 5 students. The research instruments included the researcher himself as the main instrument, a mathematical connection ability test sheet, and an interview guide sheet. Data collection using test and interview techniques. The results of the study stated that subjects with a high level of mathematical connection tended to have no difficulty when solving problems. Then subjects who have a moderate level of mathematical connection tend to experience difficulties in applying principles and in solving verbal problems. Subjects who have low-level mathematical connection abilities are more likely to experience difficulties in understanding concepts, applying formulas and principles, and verbal problems.
