Evektivitas herbal kunyit (Curcuma longa linn) dalam meredakan nyeri menstruasi (Dysmenorrhea)
Abstract
Pain and cramps during menstruation or dysmonorrhea are pain caused by muscle contractions of the uterine wall. The decay of blood vessel walls involves prostaglandin compounds to help muscle contractions. Dysmonere can interfere with the continuity of activities in women and make them feel uncomfortable, if allowed to continue to cause greater disturbances. Dysmonere can be treated by administering turmeric herbs (Curcuma Longa Linn) because turmeric contains anti-inflammatory and analgesic compounds in the form of curcumin and curcumenol. Curcumin inhibits cyclooxygenase (COX-2) reactions thereby inhibiting inflammation. Another ingredient is curcumenol which is an analgesic compound that can inhibit the performance and synthesis of prostaglandins so that uterine contractions are not excessive This herbal plant can be used as an herbal drink by combining it with acid or honey. Compounds in these ingredients are able to inhibit the production of prostaglandins and reduce muscle contractions, as well as relax blood vessels thereby reducing pain.
