PENGARUH MEDIA PEMBELAJARAN BERBASIS AUGMENTED REALITY TERHADAP PENINGKATAN KEMAMPUAN VISUAL THINKING PADA MATERI IPS
Abstract
One of the essential cognitive skills required by students to comprehend academic content is the ability to think visually. Employing suitable edu cational media can significantly enhance this cognitive capability. Observations conducted at MTs Al Maarif 02 Singosari revealed that students exhibited underdeveloped visual thinking skills. This shortcoming was attributed to the use of media that lacked engagement and interactivity. Hence, there is a pressing need to implement more dynamic and stimulating learning tools that can strengthen students’ visual thinking, particularly in the context of social studies. The purpose of this research is to explore how media integrating Augmented Reality (AR) influences learners' visual thinking in social studies. Such a skill is vital in this subject area, as it enables students to interpret spatial data and examine social issues more effectively. This investigation adopted a quasi-experimental approach with a design that involved only a post-test phase. Data was gathered using objective tests composed of multiple-choice questions reflecting several dimensions of visual thinking: Looking, Seeing, Imagining, Showing, and Telling. For data analysis, the independent samples t-test was employed with the aid of SPSS version 26. The findings indicated a statistically significant difference (p < 0.05) between the visual thinking performance of students exposed to AR media and those who experienced conventional instruction. Learners in the AR-enhanced group consistently achieved higher average scores across all visual thinking indicators. These results suggest that integrating AR into educational media can foster deeper, more interactive, and meaningful comprehension of social studies material.
ABSTRAK
Kemampuan visual thinking menjadi salah satu kemampuan yang sangat penting di era saat ini merupakan salah satu keterampilan berpikir yang penting. Untuk membantu kemampuan tersebut, butuh penggunaan media pembelajaran yang tepat. hasil observasi di MTs Al Maarif 02 Singosari menunjukan kemampuan Visual thinking yang kurang maksimal. Hal ini terjadi karena penggunaan media pembelajaran yang kurang menarik dan interaktif. Oleh karena itu media pembelajaran yang tepat sangat diperlukan dengan tujuan membantu siswa memiliki kemampuan Visual thinking, terutama pada materi IPS. Penelitian ini hadir untuk memahami bagaimana Augmented Reality (AR) terhadap kemampuan visual thinking siswa pada materi IPS. Kemampuan visual thinking dinilai penting dalam pembelajaran IPS karena membantu siswa memahami informasi spasial, menganalisis fenomena sosial. Penelitian memanfaatkan metode penelitian yakni dengan kuasi eksperimen desain post-test only. Teknik pengumpulan data melalui tes. Tes yang diberikan berupa soal pilihan ganda yang mencakup indikator Looking, Seeing, Imagining dan Showing and Telling, guna mengukur kemampuan Visual thinking siswa. Data dianalisis menggunakan uji Independent Sample T-Test berbantuan aplikasi SPSS 26. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa terdapat perbedaan signifikan (p < 0,05) antara kemampuan visual thinking siswa yang belajar menggunakan media AR dibandingkan ] menggunakan media konvensional. Skor tinggi ditujukan Siswa pada kelompok eksperimen, kelas ini berhasil menempuh seluruh indikator kemampuan visual thinking. Temuan ini mengindikasikan bahwa penggunaan media berbasis AR dapat meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir visual siswa dalam memahami materi IPS secara lebih interaktif dan bermakna.
