Abstract

This study aims to investigate three main aspects of the reform: (1) the need to renew legal education in Indonesia to remain relevant and efficient, (2) the framework of a flexible and responsive model of legal education in addressing contemporary challenges, and (3) approaches to functionally link legal education with the complex social, legal, and economic conditions in Indonesia. The study employs a qualitative approach that integrates juridical-normative, socio-legal, and comparative methods. This approach is chosen because the theme of legal education is not only connected to regulatory aspects but also closely related to social dynamics, historical contexts, and the need for integration within a global framework. The findings reveal that traditional legal pedagogy, dominated by doctrinal formalism and a lack of practical experience, is inadequate in addressing the complexities of modern legal practice. The call for reform arises from the growing gap between the competencies of law graduates and the actual demands of the legal profession, judicial system, and society at large.
