Generative AI Policy Statement

Sakina: Journal of Family Studies permits the responsible use of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) tools, provided that their use is transparent and appropriately disclosed.

Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, integrity, and ethical compliance of their manuscripts. GenAI tools cannot satisfy the criteria for authorship and must not be listed as authors or co-authors.

Permitted Use

GenAI tools may be used under meaningful human supervision for limited purposes, including:

• Language editing, grammar checking, and translation.
• Improving the clarity and readability of author-generated text.
• Assisting with data visualization, provided that the tool does not generate, alter, or fabricate research findings.

Prohibited Use

• Generating substantial scientific content, arguments, analyses, or literature reviews without appropriate disclosure and author verification.
• Including fabricated, inaccurate, or unverifiable references, quotations, data, or citations generated by AI tools.
• Using GenAI to fabricate, manipulate, or misrepresent research data, images, or findings.
• Listing a GenAI tool as an author or attributing accountability to an AI system.
• Uploading confidential manuscripts or unpublished research data to publicly accessible GenAI tools without appropriate authorization and data protection.
• Using GenAI as a substitute for independent editorial judgment or peer-review assessment.

Disclosure Requirements

Authors who use GenAI tools beyond basic spelling, grammar, or formatting assistance must include a Generative AI Usage Statement before the reference list.

During the preparation of this manuscript, the author(s) used [NAME OF TOOL AND VERSION] for [PURPOSE OF USE]. The author(s) reviewed, verified, and revised the resulting content and accept full responsibility for the final manuscript.

Author Responsibility

Authors must verify all AI-assisted content, including factual statements, references, translations, and interpretations. Disclosure of GenAI use does not transfer responsibility from the authors to the tool provider or the journal.
