Publication Ethics and Misconduct

Sakina: Journal of Family Studies is committed to maintaining high standards of publication ethics in accordance with the COPE Principles of Transparency and Best Practice. This policy applies to authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher.

Duties of Authors
  • Reporting Standards: Authors must present accurate and original research. Fabrication, falsification, and inappropriate data manipulation are prohibited.
  • Originality: Manuscripts must be original and free from plagiarism, self-plagiarism, and duplicate publication.
  • Authorship: Authorship must be limited to individuals who made substantial intellectual contributions. All authors must approve the final version of the manuscript.
  • Ethical Oversight: Research involving human participants, animals, or sensitive data must comply with applicable ethical standards and informed-consent requirements.
  • Declaration: Authors must complete all required authorship, originality, conflict-of-interest, and publication declarations during the submission process.

Duties of Editors
  • Publication Decisions: Editorial decisions must be based on scholarly merit, originality, relevance, methodological quality, and compliance with journal policies.
  • Fair Play: Manuscripts must be evaluated without discrimination based on race, ethnicity, gender, religion, nationality, institutional affiliation, or political views.
  • Confidentiality: Editors must not disclose information about a submitted manuscript to anyone outside the authorized editorial and peer-review process.
  • Conflict of Interest: Editors must recuse themselves from handling manuscripts where personal, professional, or financial conflicts may affect their impartiality.

Duties of Reviewers
  • Confidentiality: Reviewers must treat manuscripts and review materials as confidential documents.
  • Objectivity: Reviews must provide clear, reasoned, constructive, and evidence-based feedback.
  • Acknowledgement of Sources: Reviewers should identify relevant uncited work and notify editors of suspected plagiarism, duplication, or substantial similarity.
  • Promptness: Reviewers should complete evaluations within the agreed timeframe or promptly notify the editor when they are unable to do so.
  • Conflict of Interest: Reviewers must decline assignments where conflicts could compromise the independence of their assessment.

Publisher Responsibilities

Sharia Faculty, UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang supports editorial independence, ethical oversight, responsible journal governance, and the long-term preservation of published scholarly content.

Research Misconduct

The journal seeks to identify plagiarism, duplicate publication, data fabrication, falsification, improper authorship, and other forms of research misconduct through similarity checking and editorial review. Allegations are assessed objectively and may result in manuscript rejection, correction, retraction, or notification of the relevant institution when appropriate.

Licensing

Authors retain copyright under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International License. This license permits redistribution and adaptation in any medium, provided that appropriate attribution is given to the authors and the original publication.

Concerns regarding errors, publication ethics, or suspected misconduct should be reported to the Editorial Office. The journal is committed to preserving the integrity of the scholarly record through corrections, expressions of concern, and retractions when necessary.
