Abstract

Tahajjud prayer is a Sunnah worship that has high spiritual value in Islamic teachings and provides positive effects on mental and physical health. However, in contemporary life, which is full of busyness, irregular sleep patterns, and exposure to technology before sleep, the practice of this worship is increasingly neglected. This issue becomes important considering various studies show that tahajjud can improve sleep quality, reduce stress levels, strengthen the immune system, and enhance the quality of life holistically. This research aims to re-examine the urgency of tahajjud from the perspective of the Qur’an, hadith, and modern medicine, as well as to identify the main challenges that hinder its regular practice. The study was conducted through a literature review of Islamic sources and contemporary medical references. The results of the study show that although the benefits of tahajjud are very broad, its implementation is still low due to a lack of education, spiritual motivation, and poor sleep habits. Therefore, efforts are needed to revitalize tahajjud through educational strategies, the habituation of healthy sleep patterns, and the integration of spiritual approaches with modern medical science to support the health of individuals and society as a whole.
