Abstract

The 2025 Musabaqah Tilawatil Qur’an (MTQ) held at Campus 3 of UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang highlighted the crucial interplay between judge competency, clarity of evaluation guidelines, and the application of digital scoring systems in shaping participants’ experiences. This study aimed to objectively assess how these three factors influenced participant satisfaction. A cross-sectional design was employed, involving six participants and two judges, with data collected through Likert-scale questionnaires and digital scoring records. Correlation and multiple regression analyses were used to explore relationships among variables. Findings revealed that judge competency had a significant positive effect on participant satisfaction (β = 0.45; p < 0.001), as did standardized evaluation guidelines (β = 0.38; p < 0.001). Meanwhile, digital scoring improved procedural efficiency but had no direct impact on satisfaction levels (β = 0.12; p = 0.08). The overall model accounted for 62% of the variance in satisfaction. These results suggest that enhancing judge training and unifying scoring criteria are key strategies to improve the overall participant experience in future MTQ events.
