School psychological atmosphere, school climate, students, learning environment, educational psychologyAbstract
The educational environment plays a crucial role in supporting the success of the learning process, not only through its physical aspects but also through the psychological conditions created within the school environment. The psychological atmosphere of a school, or school climate, is the perception, experience, and social interactions felt by all members of the school community, which can influence the academic, social, and emotional development of students. This article aims to examine the concept of the psychological atmosphere of a school, the factors that influence it, its impact on students, and the role of teachers and schools in managing a conducive psychological climate. The method used is a literature study by examining various relevant scientific sources in the fields of educational psychology and educational management. The results of the study indicate that the psychological atmosphere of a school is influenced by the quality of interactions between teachers and students, social relationships between students, school discipline policies, learning methods, and the physical condition of the school environment. A positive psychological atmosphere has been shown to increase learning motivation, student engagement, academic achievement, social skills, and emotional well-being of students. Conversely, a less conducive school climate can cause stress, reduce learning motivation, and hinder students' social and emotional development. Therefore, the active role of teachers as motivators, facilitators, class managers, and evaluators is needed, as well as school support through counseling services, skills development programs, and systemic approaches to create a safe, comfortable learning environment that supports optimal student development.
