Optimalisasi zakat melalui: Program beasiswa baznas kabupaten gresik dalam meningkatkan kesejahteraan mahasiswa

The optimization of zakat distribution through the scholarship program organized by BAZNAS Kabupaten Gresik has become a strategic effort to improve student welfare while expanding access to education for outstanding students from underprivileged families. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the scholarship program in supporting the welfare of its beneficiaries. The research employed a descriptive qualitative approach with data collected through interviews, observations, and documentation involving program administrators and scholarship recipients. The findings reveal that the scholarship program has contributed positively to students’ financial conditions, academic achievement, and psychosocial development. In addition to easing educational expenses, the program has also enhanced students’ learning motivation, as reflected in the increase of their average grade point achievement after receiving the scholarship. Nevertheless, several challenges remain, including limited zakat fundraising, restricted beneficiary coverage, and monitoring systems that have not yet operated optimally. Therefore, stronger program management, digital innovation, and collaboration among stakeholders are necessary to ensure that the scholarship program can be implemented more effectively, sustainably, and in accordance with its intended objectives.
