Structure of Research Articles (based on Undergraduate Thesis)

Articles derived from research (thesis) are generally structured as follows:
a) Title of the Article
b) Author’s Identity (Name, Institution, and E-mail)
c) Abstract and Keywords
d) Manuscript Content (Introduction, Research Method, Results and Discussion, Conclusion)
e) References

a) Title

The title should be concise, informative, and reflect the article’s content. It should identify the main issue and start with the subject of the article. The title should differ from the original thesis title. Avoid commonly used abbreviations.
A good title should be effective, specific, and attract readers’ attention—especially potential authors who might cite your work.
Use Times New Roman, 16 pt, title case, and center alignment.

b) Author’s Identity

Author names are written without academic or professional titles (e.g., S.H., M.H., Manager). Do not abbreviate your surname. Always include full first and last names.
List the complete affiliation (faculty and university name) and an active e-mail address for correspondence.
Author names should be bold, 12 pt, centered, while affiliation, e-mail, and phone number should be italic, 12 pt, centered.

c) Abstract and Keywords

Every article must include an abstract in Indonesian and English/Arabic, written concisely (150–200 words), clearly summarizing the research’s purpose, method, and findings.
Choose precise diction to effectively convey your study’s essence.
Provide 3–5 keywords, separated by semicolons (;), not commas.
Keywords should represent the core concepts of the paper and use commonly recognized abbreviations (e.g., KUA, KHI).

d) Manuscript Content

Introduction

Includes the academic background or research problem, possibly supported by statistical data. Mention relevant previous research (preferably journal articles) to show the novelty of your work. End with the research objective.

Research Method

Explain the approach, research type, data sources, data collection methods, and data validation techniques. Methods should be stated clearly and concisely, supported by relevant references. Avoid explaining definitions of methods.

Results and Discussion

Present research findings clearly and concisely, focusing on key discoveries rather than detailed data. Compare and discuss your findings with previous research and theoretical references.
The theoretical framework should be integrated into this section, not separated.

Conclusion

Conclusions must directly answer the research objectives and be brief yet impactful.
They should reflect the theoretical implications and show how your study contributes to Islamic law or family law scholarship. Avoid repeating the discussion section.

Tables and Figures

  • Tables and figures must be numbered sequentially (e.g., Table 1, Figure 1).

  • Table titles are placed above the table; figure titles are placed below the figure.

  • Use 10 pt bold font for titles.

  • Tables should use only horizontal lines (no vertical lines) and single spacing (6 pt after table).

  • Figures must be clear, readable, black & white or color, with a resolution of 800x600 px and file size ≤ 100 KB.

  • Accepted formats: JPEG, BMP, PNG.

e) References (Footnotes)

Citations must be relevant and limited to sources actually read. Avoid excessive or irrelevant citations and plagiarism.
Use Chicago Manual of Style 16th edition (Full Note, no Ibid.) for footnotes.
Avoid using “ibid.” or “op. cit.”. Use Times New Roman, 10 pt, single spacing.
