Abstract

In an era of rapid technological advancement, the need for an attendance system that is accurate, efficient, and able to minimize the potential for fraud is increasingly urgent, especially to replace the manual attendance system that is vulnerable to manipulation. This study aims to analyze the implementation of a biometric-based digital attendance system at the Kediri City Education Office, which has been proven to have a significant impact on improving employee work discipline. The technology used in the form of fingerprints and face recognition allows attendance recording to be carried out automatically, accurately, and cannot be manipulated. The findings show that the implementation of this system has succeeded in reducing the practice of asking for attendance, increasing individual accountability, and encouraging employees to be more responsible for working hours. In addition, real-time data integration makes it easier for the personnel department to monitor, recapitulate, and evaluate performance objectively. The implementation of this system also forms a more professional, transparent, and accountable work culture, and supports more optimal administrative efficiency and public services. However, challenges such as technical disruptions and adaptation to new technologies still need to be anticipated. Therefore, strengthening infrastructure, data security, and ongoing coaching are important steps to maintain the sustainability of this system.
